It is not a new thing for the companies to use athletes as marketing tools to increase their sales. Companies have been using the players since the professional sports have entered the scene. Big sharks in the industry are making big deals with the players; here are some of the biggest endorsement deals made in sports.


1. Tiger Woods deal with Nike

In the start of the new millennium, Tiger Woods made an endorsement deal with Nike. It was a 5 year agreement in which Tiger Woods received $105 million. It was the highest amount of money ever paid to a sports celebrity at that time. Due to Tiger’s scandals and poor performance Tiger has been pushed back but yet this deal is one of the biggest deals among a company and a sports celebrity.

2. George Foreman with Salton Inc.

George Foreman was a professional boxer and was a very successful one too. The former heavyweight champion made a lifetime deal with Salton Inc which gave him $137 million.

3. David Beckham’s deal with Adidas

It was amid the peak of David Beckham career that he made a lifetime deal with Adidas for about $160 million. David Beckham got half the money upfront and has been taking the rest in the form of profits.

4. Derrick Rose and Adidas

Derrick Rose

Derrick Rose is also known as the next Michael Jordan.  Rose has become the youngest MVP in the history of American basketball and yet Adidas rewarded it with a 10 year endorsement contract which gave Rose $260 million. It is safe to say that Derrick will remain with Adidas for the rest of his life.

5.Rory Mcllroy with Nike

With the fall of Tiger Woods, Rory Mcllroy becomes the new face of Golf and Nike. Rory has taken the golf scene with a bang in the past two seasons and is now the number 1 player in the world. He signed a 10 year endorsement deal with Nike for $250 million.
