Some of the best songs of all time are love songs. They have an enduring popularity which is probably something to do with how easy they are to sing along to – even for the tone deaf. Everyone has their own list, but here are our top 5 love songs.


1. Endless Love – Diana Ross and Lionel Richie

Endless Love was released in 1981 as the theme for the movie of the same name, which starred Brooke Shields and Martin Hewitt. Despite being the first film that Tom Cruise ever appeared in, it was a flop. The song, however, was a huge hit and still gets radio play and downloads today.


2. I’ll Make Love To You – Boyz II Men

Boyz II Men was an R&B group that found fame in the 1990s. I’ll Make Love to You is one of their biggest hits. It stayed at number 1 in the US charts for 14 weeks when it was released in 1994, setting a record at the time.


3. How Deep Is Your Love – Bee Gees

The Bee Gees are one of the best things to have come out of the 1970s. Their big-hit songs are timeless and feature on the playlists of anyone who is serious about music. How Deep Is Your Love was written, recorded and released by the group in 1977 and was the first of six number one hits in the United States.


4. I Will Always Love You – Whitney Houston

I Will Always Love You was first released in 1974 by the brilliant Dolly Parton. The Whitney Houston version, however, is more famous. It was released in 1992 as part of the soundtrack to the movie Bodyguard, which she also starred in.


5. The Power Of Love – Celine Dion

A top 5 list of love songs would not be complete with a Celine Dion track. The Canadian singer is synonymous with the genre. The Power Of Love is the one most people would know. It was originally released by Jennifer Rush in 1985 and has been covered many times. The Celine Dion version was released in 1993.
